IOFOS International Engagement – Kosovo

It is a privilege to attend the Annual Congress of the Kosovo Dental Association, following the kind invitation of its President Prof. Dr. Blerim Kamberi.

This visit reflects IOFOS’ ongoing commitment to strengthening international collaboration and supporting the development of forensic odontology worldwide. In this context, and in the spirit of institutional cooperation, the President of IOFOS, Prof. Dr. Cristiana Palmela Pereira, were honoured to be received by H.E. Ambassador Dr. Edona Maloku Bërdyna, Ambassador of Kosovo to Portugal.

As President of IOFOS and Principal Investigator of FORENSEMED University of Lisbon, it is both an honour and a responsibility to contribute to the advancement of forensic dental sciences in Kosovo, fostering knowledge exchange, scientific dialogue, and capacity building.

On 18 April 2026, an international scientific session will take place in Prishtina, entitled “Dental Anthropology and Forensics”, organised by the Dental Anthropology Association of Kosova and accredited under the patronage of IOFOS. This session will bring together international experts in dental anthropology and forensic odontology, reinforcing interdisciplinary collaboration and scientific excellence.

During the scientific programme dedicated to forensic odontology, I have the privilege of joining an outstanding panel of international experts, members of the IOFOS Executive Board, including Prof. Marin Vodanović, Prof. Hrvoje Brkić, and Prof. Ricardo Silva, further strengthening global cooperation in this field. Prof. Dr. Ferit Koçani is the President of the Dental Anthropology Association of Kosova.

IOFOS remains committed to promoting excellence, standardisation, and international cooperation in forensic odontology.

This proficiency test was performing after the International Workshop on Age Estimation in Florence, Italy. The validity of this I.O.F.O.S. proficiency test is 2 years.

After the successful courses on age estimation and on personal identification by dental methods from 2024, the International Organization for Forensic Odonto-Stomatology (IOFOS) announces the courses for 2025:
The International Course on Personal Identification by Dental Methods
The course will be held from April 7 to 11, 2025, at the University of Lisbon School of Medicine, Lisbon, Portugal.
The International Workshop on Age Estimation
The course will be held from July 7 to 11, 2025, at the University of Firenze School of Medicine, Firenze, Italy.

If you want to enrich your knowledge with new knowledge in forensic odonto-stomatology, meet new colleagues and get to know two of the safest cities in Europe, we invite you to fill out the registration form respectively for the specific course. We will inform you about the further procedure in time based on the applications collected.
